10/21-10/25 National Lawyers Guild 78th Convention in Oakland CA

Greetings:

On behalf of the NLG Cuba Subcommittee, we invite you to join us in the Oct. 21-25, 2015 National Lawyers Guild 78th Convention in Oakland CA. See www.nlg.org.

We are thrilled to be hosting Miguel Fraga, the First Secretary of the new Cuban Embassy in Washington, and we also expect to welcome Atty. Guillermo Ferriol, who has hosted over a dozen NLG Labor study delegations to Cuba, as former top lawyer to the Cuban trade unions (CTC), We will also have top international guests from Venezuela and many other nations in Latin America and the world, including Venezuelan Supreme Court Justice Fernando Vegas, and Dr. Francisco Iturraspe. professor at the Universidad Central de Venezuela who also represents Venezuelan labor unions, has written over 20 books and coordinates international relations for the Venezuelan Labour Lawyers Association.

Aside from some important presentations at the plenary sessions, such as from Sr. Fraga from the Cuban Embassy on Saturday,see some of the highlights below.

On Thursday we invite you to the CLEs (below), immediately followed by the meetings of the Task Force on the Americas and the Cuba Subcommittee, from 5 – 7pm.

On Friday evening join us at 5:45-7:15 pm for the International Committee reception and the Debra Evenson Venceremos award ceremony honoring decades of the NLG’s Cuba work.
