Declaration by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba
The Government of Cuba reiterates its deep concern and warns of the imminent risk of an intensification of the war by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the threat of direct aggression by the United States, and the danger that the conflict could become nuclear or cause radioactive leaks with disastrous and devastating consequences for humanity.
We call on the American people and the international community to demand the immediate cessation of military aggression against Iran, now entering its seventh day, and to oppose the potential involvement of the U.S. government. Its financial, political, and military support for Israel—along with threatening statements and the recent deployment of war assets to the region—acts as a destabilizing factor and represents a dangerous escalation of the conflict.
Cuba reaffirms its full solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran and recalls the disastrous consequences of previous military interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya, which left behind a trail of chaos, violence, and insecurity in those countries and their surrounding regions.
We urgently call for the pursuit of peace through dialogue and negotiations without preconditions or coercion.
Cuba supports the Declaration issued by the Non-Aligned Movement and urges the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council to fulfill their primary responsibility of maintaining international peace and security; to immediately put an end to this aggression and the impunity with which the Zionist regime acts; and to work tirelessly to restore peace.
Israel’s attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities must cease immediately. These attacks are a blatant violation of international law and the harm caused to civilians contravenes international humanitarian law.
The Cuban Embassy in Iran continues to operate, adhering to necessary protective measures for exceptional situations and ensuring constant attention to Cuban nationals residing in Iran. Women and children from our diplomatic mission were evacuated along with three Cuban citizens residing in Tehran.
At this delicate moment in history, Cuba reiterates that only a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can bring peace to the Middle East region.
We must act with the urgency and determination that the moment demands. Tomorrow will be too late.
