US Mayor Visits Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples

Image result for Ras J. Baraka in CubaHavana, Mar 28 (Prensa Latina) The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando Gonzalez, welcomed Ras J. Baraka, the mayor the city of Newark, in New Jersey, the United States, this Government agency”s press release said today.
During the meeting held at the ICAP headquarters, Gonzalez highlighted the work by the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in the United States, mostly composed of settlers of poor areas, Latin American and African American minorities, according to the text.He also stressed the ICAP’s work as facilitator of visits by US citizens to Cuba, through the travel agency Amistur.

The visitor expressed his interest in holding meetings and know the Education and Health programs that Cuba is developing in the interest of its population, with the purpose of applying those experiences in his city.

Baraka was in favor of continuing the process to normalize the relations between Havana and Washington that started in 2015, with the opening of their respective embassies.

He also in favor of increasing the exchange between students from both countries.

The delegation led by Baraka arrived on Sunday in the Cuban capital and as its program, it visited the Latin American School of Medicine, where US youths are studying different health specialties.
