Public speak-out and discussion on the eve of President Obama’s Cuban Trip
End the U.S. Blockade and Travel Ban on Cuba, Return Guantánamo!
Cuban doctors volunteered to provide free medical care in Haiti after its devastating earthquake. Some 85% of medical care in Haiti today is provided by Cuba.
Washington’s diplomatic recognition of Cuba and freeing of the Cuban Five are real victories reflecting the continuing strength of the Cuba Revolution. Yet the U.S. remains entirely committed to its overthrow. And the “good news” of ‘normalization’ and Obama’s visit deliberatively covers both that fundamentally-hostile commitment and Washington’s continued travel ban, illegal occupation of Guantánamo, and economic blockade (Cuba is still denied use of the U.S. dollar in international commerce and banks dealing with Cuba are still being fined billions).
Come hear from and discuss with
Dr. Felix Masud, History Department, DePaul University
Gisela López, life-long Cuban-American activist
Howard Ehrman, MD, MPH, Public health physician just back from a month in Cuba
