People of faith and conscience, the friends of Cuba, we must commit to continue the work to end the blockade once and for all, Gail Walker, executive director of the group, said Tuesday night during an event held in Washington. Speaking to people in solidarity with Cuba and members of the community of the Plymouth Congregational United Church in Christ, the activist said that many organizations have issued statements condemning the measures of the administration of Donald Trump against the Caribbean nation.

Walker stated that this is very important, but he said that such statements must be accompanied by actions, and called to continue the work of spreading the truth about Cuba, to shed light on what is happening around that island.

Cuba has been a pioneer in many areas of life, and that is the information we think it is necessary to share, said the leader of Pastors for Peace, who noted that this is why the caravans to Cuba continue, and we celebrate its 30th edition this year.

Last week, the Trump administration, which has reversed many of the steps of the bilateral approach, put into effect new limitations on the travel of its citizens to Cuba, and all those prohibitions will be challenged again by Pastors for Peace with the caravan that will be in Cuba from June 25 to July 5.

Tuesday night’s event in Washington DC is part of a tour on five routes the organization is carrying out by 40 US cities to talk with the communities about Cuba.
