Eighty-nine percent of pediatric patients in Cuba have recovered from COVID-19, none has died
HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 25 (ACN) Dr. Francisco Duran Garcia, national director of epidemiology at the ministry of public health reported Tuesday that 89 percent of Cuba’s pediatric patients have recovered from COVID-19.
At the usual press conference, the health authority said that so far 390 children and young people (up to 18 years old) have contracted the disease in the country.
Of these, only two have suffered the Multisystemic Inflammatory Syndrome in children (MIS-C) associated with pediatric ages.
Although both children developed complications from the disease, the response to the treatments applied was favorable and they have already recovered.
Since the worldwide alert about the Multisystemic Inflammatory Syndrome, Cuban health authorities started a deep surveillance system to avoid complications in our pediatric patients.
