Como amigos de Cuba, reconocemos al pueblo cubano que dedica su vida a una idea más grande que sí mismo. A quienes mantienen viva la Revolución mediante su lucha constante por defender la independencia, la soberanía y el derecho a la autodeterminación. Treinta y dos cubanos fueron asesinados recientemente, defendiendo estos derechos. Los honramos no solo por su compromiso con Cuba, sino también por su apoyo a los pueblos vecinos. Estar en Venezuela con el entendimiento de que nuestras luchas están conectadas. Reconocer que ser un buen vecino significa ayudarnos activamente unos a otros. Los 32 defensores que hoy honramos y despedimos encarnan estos valores en un momento en que una poderosa minoría en todo el mundo, centrada en los Estados Unidos, continúa intentando dominar y controlar a sus vecinos.
La Red Nacional sobre Cuba recuerda al gobierno de los Estados Unidos que su agresión contra Venezuela, sus amenazas ominosas contra Cuba y su apoyo al genocidio en Palestina no reflejan la voluntad del pueblo que Washington falsamente afirma representar. La lucha por la libertad, la independencia y la soberanía no comenzó con el líder histórico de Cuba, Fidel Castro Ruz, cuyo centenario celebramos este año, ni con el presidente bolivariano Hugo Chávez Frías, sino con Hatuey, cacique taíno e indígena, con los esclavos rebeldes como Carlota, con la independencia de Haití y con la lucha incesante que une a estos pueblos, a estos dos países y a esta región. Ninguna Doctrina Monroe ni memorando Mallory puede derrotarla.
Esta lucha por la libertad y por el derecho de todo ser humano a una vida digna y a desarrollar plenamente cada potencial resuena hoy en las calles de las ciudades de los Estados Unidos. Esta lucha aún no ha terminado.
Los pueblos del mundo continuarán resistiendo la agresión de los Estados Unidos, defendiendo y construyendo un mundo mejor que imaginó José Martí. Los pueblos de todas partes están cansados de los bloqueos, de la guerra y del genocidio, de los bombardeos de embarcaciones en aguas abiertas. A lo largo de las Américas, los pueblos seguirán luchando por el honor y la gloria de los 32 que los precedieron. Porque el poder del pueblo es quien ganará esta lucha al final. Es el poder del pueblo el que nos une más allá de las fronteras. Ese poder, que los 32 héroes llevaron consigo, ahora lo llevaremos siempre hacia adelante. Hasta la victoria, siempre.

32 Defenders, One Struggle
As friends of Cuba, we recognize the people of Cuba who dedicate their lives to an idea greater than themselves. The people who keep the revolution alive through their ongoing fight to defend independence, sovereignty, and the right to self-determination. 32 Cubans were killed recently, upholding these rights. We honor them not only because of their commitment to Cuba but also for their support of the neighboring people. To be in Venezuela with the understanding that our struggles are connected. Recognizing that being a good neighbor means actively helping one another. The 32 defenders honored and laid to rest today embody these values at a time when a powerful minority around the world, centered in the United States, continues to try to dominate and control their neighbors.
The National Network on Cuba reminds the U.S. government that its aggression against Venezuela, ominous threats against Cuba, and support for genocide in Palestine do not represent the will of the people Washington falsely claims to represent. The fight for freedom, independence, and sovereignty did not begin with Cuba’s historic leader Fidel Castro Ruz whose Centennial we celebrate this year, nor with Bolivarian President Hugo Chavez Frias, but with Hatuey, a Taíno cacique indigenous leader, the rebellious slaves like Carlota, the independence of Haiti, and the unceasing struggle that binds these peoples, these two countries, and this region together. No Monroe Doctrine or Mallory memo can defeat it.
This struggle for freedom and the right of every human being to a dignified life and to fully develop each potential reverberates today in the streets of U.S. cities. This fight is not yet over.
The people of the world will continue to fight back against U.S. aggression, resisting, defending, and building the better world envisioned by José Martí. The people everywhere are tired of blockades, they are tired of war and genocide, they are tired of bombings of boats in open waters. Throughout the Americas, the people will continue to fight with the honor and glory of the 32 who have gone before them. Because it is the power of the people that will win this fight in the end. It is the power of the people that unites us across borders. That power, that 32 heroes carried with them, we will now carry forward always. Until victory, always.
