Want to be part of history? Help mark the thawing in US-Cuba relations by joining CODEPINK co-founders on a delegation to Cuba February 8-15, 2015. The group will have high-level meetings with government officials, visit members of the Cuban 5 who were recently released from US prison, talk to doctors who combated Ebola in Africa, and interact with local people about cultural, economic, environmental and health issues.
The delegation will include some of our nation’s greatest activists, including leaders from Ferguson and the peace movement.

Wednesday, February 11- Two day Excursions
Las Terrazas and Santa Clara
The delegation will be divided into two groups of 15 participants each, one group will spend the day in Las Terrazas and the second one in Santa Clara

11:00 AM Visit a Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) Casa de Orientación a la Mujer y Familia or similar women’s project

2:00 PM Overview of the Afro-Cuban history and culture with Dr. Esteban Morales,University of Havana Professor, Senior Researcher at the Fernando Ortiz Foundation, member of the National Commission of Race Relations of the National Union for Writers and Artists in Cuba (UNEAC). Author of many publications including the unique book “Challenging of the Race Relations in Cuba Today”.
4:30 PM Cultural activity with Okan-Tomi,a grassroots company that explores and reworks Afro-Cuban dances and music traditions
6:00 PM Return to the hotel
8:00 PM Optional dinner at Paladar El Cocinero(10 to 15 CUC)
9:30 PM Optional visit to the Fabrica de Arte Cubano (FAC), an old cooking oil factory that has been restored and is now the venue for concerts and exhibits of vanguard art in Cuba.
Friday, February 13 — Arts and Culture
9:00 AM Meeting with representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Josefina Vidal
10:30 AM Visit to the Fine Arts Museum, guided by Curator Omar Diaz
12:00 AM Visit to the home and art studio of ceramist and painter José FusterLearn about his art community project
12:30 PM Lunch at his home-studio (included)
4:00 PM Cuban Music from the origins to modern times, with Professor Dr. Alberto Fayá, musician, chairman of the music department of the National Writers and Artists Union (UNEAC) and founder of Moncada musical band
He will recreate with his group the history of Cuban music and will offer a master class
9:30 PM Optional cultural activity at La Zorra y el Cuervo Jazz Club ($10 CUC cover) or El Saucef or live dancing music (10 CUC cover)
Saturday, February 14 — Community Development
9:00 AM Visit to a Farmer’s Market
10:00 AM Visit the Organic Agricultural Urban Cooperative of Alamar meet with managers, specialists and workers.
12:00 PM Visit La Finca and Paladar Divino agricultural community project and restaurant
12:30 PM Lunch at El Divino (15 CUC)
2:00 PM Return to the hotel
3:00 PM Meeting with members of the Community Project Espiral, a grassroots project dedicated to educate young people on environmental issues and sustainable development
Discussion on various pressing issues in Cuba with college students and young professionals

Sunday, February 15 – Departure

Program Cost Includes:
- Round-trip airfare Miami — Havana
- Cuban Visa
- Health Insurance in Cuba
- In/out airport transfers
- Double hotel accommodations in Havana (Additional cost for single room supplement)
- Breakfast everyday at the hotel and7meals (either lunch or dinner) as indicated in the program (see attached itinerary for specific meals included. Dietary needs will be addressed with prior notice)
- Ground transportation for all scheduled activities in Havana and excursions to Las Terrazas and Santa Clara. A bus will be provided to pick up daily from the hotel according to the itinerary, except for optional activities
- Entrance/Program fee associated with scheduled activities (unless otherwise indicated).
- Guided visits and cultural activities included in the program
- Fees for professors, lecturers, and institutions including a donation to two community projects
- A day excursion to either Las Terrazas or Santa Clara
- Program Coordination as is indicated in the tentative attached itinerary, translations and expert guides
