MINREX: Cuba rejects the US withdrawal of the nuclear agreement with Iran

Declaration of Cuba’s Foreign Ministry

HAVANA, Cuba, May 9 (ACN) Cuba rejects the
US withdrawal of the nuclear agreement with Iran.
The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Cuba expresses its profound rejection to the US government decision of withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or Nuclear Agreement with Iran and once again impose sanctions to that country.  The non-compliance to these international commitments go against the norms of coexistence between the States and can provoke serious consequences for the stability and security of the Middle East.
Cuba opposes the application of unilateral coercive economic measures against any country and recognizes the legitimate right of all States to use nuclear energy for peaceful means.  At the same time, calls on the UN Security Council to comply with its responsibility that the UN Charter confers in maintaining peace and international security, demanding compliance of its Resolution 2231 (2015) on the Iranian nuclear issue, unanimously approved by the world body.
