This text recalls that for the twenty-seventh consecutive time, the United Nations General Assembly approved the resolution Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba, with 189 votes in favor, 2 against (United States and Israel) and 2 absences (Ukraine and Moldova).

Regarding the links with Latin America and the Caribbean, the visit of the Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, to Venezuela highlights, as well as the trips to Cuba by Bolivia, Panama, El Salvador, Haiti, Suriname, Guyana leaders, and the prime ministers of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica and Belize, among others.

According to the document, 2018 was a year of consolidation in relations with Asia and Oceania, and the official visit of Diaz-Canel to Russia, China, Vietnam, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic stands out among the main actions, while the collaboration between Cuba and African countries deepened and diversified.

In addition, relations with countries in North Africa and the Middle East continued to be strengthened with visits by Cuban authorities to those regions and to the island by the presidents of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and the Palestinian National Authority.

For its part, the United States deployed a growing aggressive rhetoric against Cuba and declared that the Monroe doctrine remains in force, as an expression of its hegemonic projection towards Latin America and the Caribbean.
