 Washington, Jun 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Minister of Agriculture, Gustavo Rodriguez Rollero, urged US authorities to deepen cooperation and said that trade must be reciprocal.
Rollero concluded today a three-day visit to the United States, responding to an invitation made by Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, who was his host during a tour of the state of Iowa
The US Secretary of Agriculture said to the media that both countries have much to learn from each other.
The new ties will not only benefit American farmers; also will equally benefit Cuban farmers.
The Cuban Minister said that US and Cuban farmers have similar interests and challenges.
During his visit, Rollero held a meeting with Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, businessmen and organizations that support the development of trade between both countries and the end of the blockade.
Rollero and Vilsack agreed to continue negotiations in order to sign specific instruments on cooperation regarding animal and plant health.
These steps will implement the objectives outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in Agriculture, signed on March 21, 2016, in Havana, local sources said. Both delegations agreed on the importance of expanding cooperation through the exchange of experiences and joint research between Cuban and US institutions. |
