Cuban Youth Reaffirms Commitment to the Revolution During Military Parade

Today Jennifer Bello, president of the University Student Federation (FEU), expressed the commitment of the youth of Cuba to the strengthening the work of the Revolution, on the occasion of Revolutionary Armed Forces Day (FAR) in the Jose Marti Plaza of the Revolution.
The event attended by tens of thousands commemorates the 60th anniversary of the uprising in Santiago de Cuba and the landing of the Granma yacht on Cuban shores. The celebration included a popular parade of military contingents.
In her keynote address Bello stressed that this year the date held special significance and motivation to reaffirm the desire of continuing the work that began 58 years ago by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro who died last November. The event was chaired by President Raul Castro.
Referring to the process of normalization of relations initiated by Cuba and the United States, Bello reminded everyone that the people of Cuba will not stop demanding the lifting of the financial blockade that was imposed on them over a half century ago.
More than 50,000 young people from the capital and the western provinces of Artemisa and Mayabeque, and representing their student and political organizations, participated in the event. Historic milestones of Cuba’s battle for of its sovereignty were illustrated in the march.
Youth participation was also present in the sections that marched representing various institutes of military education and the different components of the FAR and the Ministry of Interior in a strong popular expression of support for the Revolution.
