ICAP: MESSAGE IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE AFRO-AMERICAN COMMUNITY IN UNITED STATES

MESSAGE IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE AFRO-AMERICAN COMMUNITY IN UNITED STATES

With outrage we have seen the murder of another black brother in the United States, this time in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. That act of violence is part of a long history of racism and injustice in the United States that has characterized a system that perpetuates injustice and discriminates the minorities, mainly African Americans and Latinos.

Most of these crimes have taken place without being filmed and the names of the victims will never be known, but should never be forgotten. We share the grief over the murder of George Floyd and other black people. We understand those who have raised their voices against racial discrimination. We support the demands to end social inequality and police violence in Black, Latin and Native communities.

Every person has the right to live with dignity and peace. As Jose Marti said: “Men have no special rights simply because they belong to one race or another. When you say “men,” you have already imbued them with all their rights”
