Mexican newspaper claims Nobel Peace Prize for Cuban doctors
Mexico, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) Mexico’s La Jornada newspaper called on Friday to grant the Nobel Peace Prize to the ‘Henry Reeve’ Cuban medical brigades for their international performance fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
Lopez y Rivas points out that in this context how Cuba, a small island in the Caribbean Sea blockaded for more than 60 years by the United States, has deployed 40 solidarity medical brigades to fight the pandemic in 34 countries, which sparked affection and admiration from town residents where they worked.
According to the Cuban Central Medical Cooperation Unit, these brigades joined 28,729 other health collaborators who were already providing their services in 59 nations.
Videos showing the arrival of the Army in white coats to the airports, raising the Cuban flag in front of the contingent, or the emotional farewells in public squares, when the missions had completed their noble assignment, went around the world.
