7th annual Minnesota Cuban Film Festival

¡Cuba Si, Bloqueo no! End the Embargo Now!
It’s now been more than a year since the stunning announcements that the US and Cuba would begin to normalize relations. Much has changed, but the U.S. embargo of Cuba is still in place; thus this year’s theme.
The line-up of films this year will be outstanding. Earlier this month film festival organizer Franklin Curbelo attended the 37th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana and was able to obtain some of the newest Cuban films directly from ICAIC, the Cuban Film Institute. Watch for an announcement of Franklin’s presentation on his trip. It was particularly intriguing to hear about the differences between film festival attendance here in the U.S. and in Cuba, where it costs the equivalent of about 20 cents to see a film.
New films under consideration for our festival this year include Fatima, Parel de las Palabras and Bocaccio in Havana and several others. We are working again this year with ICAIC (Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográficos), the Cuban Film Institute, and partnering with the Film Society of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
We would like to ask you to consider joining with the film festival as a supporter or sponsor so that we can continue bringing Cuban cinema to Minnesota. Depending on the level of sponsorship we achieve, we are hoping to be able to host lower ticket prices to encourage wider attendance.
