Over 2,000 Cuban health professionals fight the coronavirus worldwide

About 2,030 health professionals, as part of the Henry Reeve contingent, are collaborating in the fight against the pandemic in 22 nations, Marcia Cobas Ruiz, deputy minister of health.

The Cuban medical staff fighting the novel coronavirus in other lands has so far treated more than 5,500 patients, both in hospitals and in the so-called red zone, she added.

In the daily Mesa Redonda program, Cobas Ruiz explained that requests have been received from 51 countries, and the preparation of personnel for future collaboration has continued.

The deputy minister referred that the official requests are analyzed by the Cuban party and government in order to also guarantee qualified personnel in the Caribbean nation.

Cobas Ruiz explained that in nine of the countries that asked for specialists, due to the large number of Cuban personnel they already had, it was decided to train them and not to send other doctors.

This training is carried out by videoconference with the support of the ministry of foreign affairs, where the country’s leading experts participate to exchange on the Cuban experience in the application of the National Plan and the treatment protocols for the disease.
She commented that the 22 countries have assumed the transportation, lodging and feeding of the doctors and in the case of the developed countries Cuba

receives a compensation that allows the vitality of the domestic services.

The altruism and the heroism of the doctors destroy all the fakery and attacks built by the enemy to overshadow our solidarity and collaboration; the Cuban deputy minister concluded.
