APRIL 27 – MAY 06, 2018
DAY 1 FRIDAY – APRIL 27: HAVANA
1:05 PM Arrival at the Jose Marti International Airport. After arrival procedures meet our Cuban guide and driver. Lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy a panoramic tour of modern Havana including a brief stop at Revolution Square prior to arrival at the hotel.
4:00p Check into the ANAP House in Vedado
7:00p Welcome dinner at a local restaurant
9:00p Return to the ANAP House for overnight
DAY 2 SATUDAY – APRIL 28: HAVANA
Breakfast at the ANAP House
9:30a Visit to the Museum of the Revolution, located in Old Havana, the museum houses what was the Presidential Palace of the Cuban presidents. It became the Museum of the Revolution during the years following the Cuban revolution.
Continue with a guided walk through Old Havana, see ongoing restoration transforming this UNESCO World Heritage Site. See Old City plazas, gleaming colonial places, magnificent Capitolio, Plaza Vieja, and some of Havana’s finest vitrales (stained-glass windows).
Lunch at a local restaurant.
3:00p Travel to Finca Vigia “Lookout Farm” in San Francisco de Paula. This was Ernest Hemingway’s winter home from 1939 to 1960. See the author’s 9,000 volume library, his yacht “Pilar” and the typewriter on which he wrote some of his greatest works. Learn about his life here during a talk with a docent. Return to the ANAP House.

DAY 3 SUNDAY – APRIL 29: HAVANA
Breakfast at the ANAP House
9:30a Visit the Museum of Fine Arts (Museo de Bellas Artes)
12:30p Lunch at a local paladar.
2:30p Drive to the nearby village of Jaimanitas to visit the home, studio and community art projects of José Rodríguez Fuster. He is the Cuban native artist specializing in ceramics, painting, drawing, engraving and graphic design who has transformed his home and the adjoining area, know too many as Fusterlandia, into one of the most interesting art projects.
5:00p Return to the ANAP House.
Dinner (on your own). Overnight at the ANAP House.
DAY 4 MONDAY – APRIL 30: HAVANA
Breakfast at the ANAP House.
9:30a Visit to a railroad workshop, meet with members of its union.
Visit also to the training school for rail machinists.
11:30p Visit to a technical school dedicated to automotive mechanics.
1:00p Lunch in a local restaurant.
3:00p Visit and interchange with members of ICAP (Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples).
5:00p Return to the ANAP House
Dinner (on your own). Overnight at the ANAP House.
DAY 5 TUESDAY – MAY 1: HAVANA
5:00a Transfer to Plaza de la Revolucion (Revolution Square).
7:00a Participation in the May Day parade and celebration.
10:00a Travel to the fishing community of Cojimar, located east of Havana, this picturesque fishing village is where Hemingway docked his boat El Pilar. Not only did he use the town as a base for fishing, Cojimar was the background for one of his most famous works, The Old Man and the Sea. The ‘old man’ in the title was reputedly his guide Gregorio Fuentes, a Cojimar local. (Optional)
12:30p Lunch at restaurant Mi Casita del Coral
5:00p Return to the ANAP House.

DAY 6 WEDNESDAY – MAY 2: HAVANA

Participation in the International Solidarity Event.

DAY 7 THURSDAY – MAY 3: HAVANA – VILLA CLARA

Check-out of the hotel.
7:00a Transfer to Santa Clara.
Upon arrival visit the Ernesto Che Guevara Monument.
12:30p Lunch in restaurant Los Caneyes. Visit to Santa Clara Battlefield and park
featuring the derailed armored troop train of Batista military.
After lunch, continue to Remedios. Visit the Museum of Sugar Industry,
where you will have the opportunity to learn about the emergence, and of the Cuban Sugar Industry. In addition, there are 18 Steam Locomotives located on the premises of which 2 are still in service and (time permitting) we may have the chance to travel on a brief tour on one of these.

DAY 8 FRIDAY – MAY 4: VILLA CLARA – VARADERO

8:00a Transfer to Matanzas.

3:00p Check-into the Las Morlas Hotel in Varadero.
7:00p Dinner at the Las Morlas Hotel.
