Report-back from
“IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CHE” CUBA INTERNATIONAL BRIGADE
From October 1-15, 12 people from Chicago were part of the U.S. delegation of 67 people from the US who participated in the
Che brigade in Cuba. There were a total of 229 people from 20 countries who made up the international brigade.
October 8th, was the 50th anniversary of the fall of Che Guevara fighting in Bolivia against the dictatorship. Brigade members
joined some 60,000 Cuban working people and youth in commemorating Che at his memorial in Santa Clara, Cuba.
Brigadistas worked in the agriculture fields weeding, moving rocks to prepare for planting and other tasks. In contrast to Puerto Rico,
the damage from hurricane Irma was quickly repaired and cleaned up. After 3 days power was restored throughout Cuba. Meanwhile
the U.S. still refuses to allow electricians and doctors from Cuba to help in Puerto Rico.
We will also hear a report-back from the October 14-22 anti-imperialist youth festival held in Sochi, Russia.
Refreshments will be served. $5 suggested donation.
