World Food Program describes ties with Cuba as positive

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 15 (ACN) The Executive Director of the World Food Program, David Beasley characterized its working ties with Cuba as positive and fluent exchanges at all levels, reported CubaMinrex website.
Beasley made the statement during a meeting with Cuba’s ambassador Jose Carlos Rodriguez Ruiz who presented his credentials as the new representative of the Caribbean island in that international entity based in Rome.
According to the report the directive of the WFP, expressed satisfaction for the good results of his recent visit to the Caribbean island where he saw the commitment and strength of the Cuban people in the reconstruction of the country after Hurricane Irma.
The Cuban diplomat thanked the WFP representative for the immediate support offered to Cuba after the hurricane in September of 2017 in addition to the personal effort and highlighted the broad and positive relations through the years between both sides.
Rodriguez Ruiz characterized as positive the work of the Office in Cuba and the coordinated work sustained with the government and other authorities in the country.
He highlighted the island’s disposition in establishing more solid ties with the Program in different areas and regions in the world starting from its own vocation and broad commitment of international cooperation that accredits the country.
The World Food Program, an entity of the United Nations that offers food assistance in emergency situations, currently assists an average of 80 million people in over 80 countries.
