Yemeni Nobel Prizewinner Acknowledges Work of Cuban Revolution

Sanaa, Jan 10.- Yemeni Nobel Prizewinner Tawakkol Karman acknowledged the social progress of the Cuban Revolution during an interview with the island’s ambassador here, David Paulovich, diplomatic sources reported today.

Paulovich explained the cause of the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly condemned in the United States, and invited Karman to join in the international demand from other Nobel prizewinners for their release.

Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Ramon Labañino were condemned to long prison terms in the United States for gathering information about terrorist plans against Cuba organized on U.S. soil. The U.N. has classified their trial and detention as arbitrary.

Rene Gonzalez returned to his country after serving his entire sentence.

The struggle of the Cuban Revolution is an example in favor of the Yemeni people’s rights, and Cuba has always been along the just causes, with the figure of guerrilla fighter Commander Ernesto Guevara being a paradigm for youth, Karman said. (Prensa Latina)
